About opera Alegría

Opera Alegría was formed in 2012 by soprano Naomi Kilby.

Having organised many concerts Opera Alegrìa was born through a desire to both give up and coming singers an opportunity to perform, alongside producing lesser known works from the operatic repertoire.

Their first production was Menotti's The Medium in January 2013. This was followed by a fundraiser in September the same year to raise the production costs for the company's current production of Mozart's Bastien & Bastienne in a double bill with The Impresario.

A highlight of 2014 was a charity performance of the double bill which raised £1500 for The Akili Trust, effectively paying for a child's entire secondary education.

Opera Alegría have twice been invited to perform at Collywood, Colliers Wood Arts Festival and have some exciting collaborations in the pipeline for 2015 and beyond...
